Los Angeles (LA), USA

Los Angeles, or simply LA, is a sprawling metropolis located in Southern California, USA. With a population of over 3.8 million people, it is the second-most populous city in the United States.

LA is known for its diverse culture, vibrant arts scene, and famous landmarks such as the Hollywood Sign, the Walk of Fame, and the Sunset Strip. The city is also surrounded by mountains and beaches, providing ample opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, surfing, and sunbathing. Los Angeles is also famous for its film and television industry, with many of the major movie studios located in the area.

We suggest staying in Los Angeles for at least 3-4 days to experience some of the city’s highlights.

However, if you want to explore other neighborhoods and attractions like Beverly Hills, Downtown LA, the Getty Villa, then a week would be ideal.

The summer months from June to August are the peak tourist season, with warm temperatures and long daylight hours. This is a great time to hit the beaches and enjoy outdoor activities, but it can also be crowded and expensive.

We suggest to visit during spring (March to May) and fall (September to November) as the weather is still mild and pleasant, and the crowds are smaller than in summer.

Los Angeles was first settled by Native American tribes for thousands of years before the arrival of Spanish explorers in the late 18th century. In 1781, a group of Spanish settlers established a small settlement named El Pueblo de la Reina de Los Angeles (The Town of the Queen of Angels). The city grew slowly over the next few decades, with agriculture as the main industry.

In 1848, California became part of the United States after the Mexican-American War, and Los Angeles became a booming center of trade and commerce. The discovery of oil in the early 20th century led to even greater growth and prosperity. Hollywood also emerged as the center of the American film industry in the early 1900s.

After World War II, the city continued to grow rapidly, and became a cultural and economic hub of the United States. In the 1960s and 1970s, the city faced social and economic challenges, including racial tensions and urban decay, but it bounced back in the 1980s and 1990s with a revitalized downtown area and a thriving entertainment industry.
