The Hungarian Parliament Building, also known as the Parliament of Budapest is a popular tourist destination in Budapest. It is the seat of the National Assembly of Hungary. The building, 268 metres long and 118 metre wide, is surmounted by a dome 96 metres high. Since its conception, the seat of the Hungarian Parliament attracted some irony due to its immense size. It has 691 rooms. The vastness of the Parliament was a sign of the economic power of Hungary at the beginning of the twentieth century. On the outside the neo-Gothic style reveals, in some details, a certain oriental influence, while inside the colossal halls combine the Baroque taste with the Byzantine one.
A complete tour takes approximately 50 minutes.
The Budapest Parliament is actively used throughout the year, and security is tight. Large bags or luggage are not allowed, since storing them in the cloakroom may be difficult. Pay attention to any sharp objects you might have in your bags.
