San Francisco Zoo

Giraffes in the "African Savanna"

The San Francisco Zoo is a popular attraction within the Bay Area. Explore the gardens and the thousands of different species: giraffes, gray wolves, grizzly bears, penguins, gorillas, lemurs… Covering 100 acres of land, the Zoo offers visitors the opportunity to see some of the most beautiful animalsand fascinating creatures on the planet up close.

A good time to visit the zoo is early on weekdays not only because you avoid the queues but also because the animals are more active early in the morning and most of the feeding sessions happen between 10 am and 2 pm. It is a good size to walk through in 2- 3 hours.

Every day at 10.30 am, zookeepers serve breakfast to the Zoo’s two grizzly bears, Kachina and Kiona. These impressive animals are sisters who were orphaned in the wild and given a second chance at the San Francisco Zoo.
